But first, we urge you to consider the true meaning of “classical Pilates” and how it impacts you. Anyone can learn 34 exercises in less than 20 hours of training, and become a “Pilates” instructor. The distinction between highly trained instructors and those certified under lower standards relates directly to your health and success. ProPilates’ instructors have been trained in the highest standards, as founded by the legendary trainer and gymnast, Joseph Pilates.

If executed properly, Pilates engages the entire body while using the body’s own weight for resistance, which makes it very functional for overall strengthening, balance and rehabilitation.

Joseph Pilates developed the system of exercises and specialized equipment with a simple philosophy: movement heals and strengthens the body. The exercises target five muscle groups: abdominals, inner and outer thighs, buttocks and the back; or what Mr. Pilates called the power house of the body. Not unlike the engine of a car, a strong power house enables the body to move freely in all directions.

The Pilates method of exercise fully engages the body, mind and spirit in controlled movements that strengthen and stretch targeted muscles. This method cannot be properly shared in a typical mat class of 20 enthusiasts. Our instructors will create a program specifically for your needs that involves the use of specialized equipment (reformer, cadillac, chair and mat). We offer a variety of arrangements and classes.
