The program integrates the techniques of biomechanical evaluation, treatment, assessment and exercise in rehabilitation and performance
enhancement context. The effects of spinal injury on the golfer, on the swing movement and other functional aspects of the game of golf
are addressed in an innovative approach by using the Pilates Method of Body Conditioning which takes the strengthening and stretching
component in golf to a different level of body awareness, control, stability as well as proper alignment , which are all benefits we gain by
doing Pilates. ProPilates Golf Program is developed by Tonka Cascais based on classical Pilates technique and the latest developments in injury prevention for golf professionals. Tonka studied Pilates since 1999 in New York City with Romana Krizanowska, Joseph Pilates’s assistant for over 50 years. Romana appointed Tonka Cascais as one of the few level 3 instructors in 2003. Tonka started working with golfers in 2000, assisting Mark Wood at Mark Wood Golf Academy at Grand Oaks Country Club with strength and flexibility training strictly using Pilates with his students including Dudley Hart, who used Pilates under Tonka’s supervision to rehab back injury and is now still playing professionally. THE PROGRAM CONSISTS OF ![]() Initial assessment (range of motion, posture, alignment, body awareness, etc.) is done by Tonka Cascais on the driving range. After the initial assessment a Pilates session will be designed based on the needs and weaknesses of the golfer tailored to improve the golf swing.
